Hi,
i'd be massively thankful if anyone could tell me how to turn off the reinvesting option within the Position Sizer. I'm finding it hard to see and measure the consistency of my system with this turned. When i do this it keeps unchecking itself again.
Thanks Charles

I can not reproduce what you're saying. Depressing the button and clicking OK should always work.

I don't know what to do then. I'm simply depressing the key so it's blue then pressing OK, then selecting Percent Volatility and applying to symbols and it runs and reinvests. When i return the Position Options Don't Reinvest is compressed and gray again....
What should i do?

Don't select a different PosSizer like Percent Volatility without having applied Position Options to your backtest first. That resets the first PosSizer's settings. So let it run. Since reinvesting can be turned off within Position Options only, it does not make any sense to choose Percent Volatility right after configuring Position Options. One PosSizer's settings naturally will not affect any other PosSizer. I'm under impression that your understanding was different, but it's incorrect.

So Position Options is not actually position sizer options but just another position sizer. So can i not turn off reinvesting for Percent Volatility or any of the other PosSizers?
For me atleast, its important to see the volatility of the backtesting again my account size today rather than some theoretical account size in the future. While it is a good additional tool to have i would have thought "Without reinvesting" would be the default.
So, i can turn off the reinvesting for Max Percent Risk and the other standard portfolio sizers and also is there no way of doing volatility adjusted position sizing without reinvesting?
Thanks Charles

1 - Yes, it's "another" PosSizer with many tweaks applicable to the basic position sizing options (fixed dollar, percent equity, and max % risk).
2 - Yes, you can't turn reinvesting off.
You asked for
disabling profit reinvestment for the percent volatility sizing, you got it via the Position Options with
Max % Risk selected in conjuction with a RiskStopLevel assigned.

Ok, i'm getting it now. Without knowing the formula behind Percent Volatility is is less easy to know what is what and what can substitute for what!!
I'll have a tinker with this.
Enjoy your weekend

Roughly, the no-frills formula (not considering trade cap, the Turtles, etc.) looks like this:
Trade size = (Current Equity * % Volatility / 100) / (Current ATR * PointValue)
