        Hi,
I don't know about Forex but Yahoo! does not support obtaining historical and streaming data for certain instrument classes like Futures etc. You cand find more information on how to check if a symbol's data is available or not in the Wiki FAQ:
FAQ | Data and Data Providers >Yahoo! Data >
"Is it possible to get the futures data from Yahoo?"

Glad that you've found it. While some FX symbols work e.g. EUR=X (which is an inverse version of EUR/USD), most of them do not e.g. EURUSD=X.

This information completes the circle on the query I asked the other week. or does it?
Have found (can confirm through manual sampling) that these types of signals work: AUD=X EUR=X GBP=X GC=F NZD=X SDG=X CNY=X
(NB: They do not appear to be a close fidelity inverse match to the data viewed from sources I usually check - e.g. IB, CMC markets, Bigcharts and Finviz. Its a similar story with Quandl free data. Need to keep looking at the other free sources before diving into subscriptions.)
...But similarly structured commodity signals do not e.g. GC=F SI=F
Just wondering if anyone knows of a master symbol list that would be available from Yahoo and how to view it?

Right, it's straight in the FAQ in my reply #2 above.

Isn't it expected with the globally traded Forex that quotes by different vendors don't match closely?

May this be it?

Thanks Eugene, I had discovered that page previously, but was just wondering if there was a "back" page available through yahoo that listed all stocks, indicies, FX etc available. I thought I found one many years ago, but have not been able to locate anything like it since. So am guessing not.
I do expect differences between vendors on FX, but have observed (anecdotally) similarity among some (but am unaware whether they were derived from the same origin source or not).

Hi. I tried building and updating forex data sets from Yahoo using the Data Manager.. Keep getting the following error message:
Error updating Security Names. The remote name could not be resolved: 'download.finance.yahoo.com'
[0] EURUSD=X Error: The operation has timed out
I tried, for example, EURUSD=X, EURUSD, and EUR/USD. Nothing worked.
Any suggestions?

I'll just mention that forex data from Yahoo! looks pretty bad - especially the close (spot) price is inaccurate. Below the top chart is Yahoo! EURUSD=X, whereas the bottom is the
Norgate Data Provider.
