I use WL4 right now and test my strategies on about 500+ stocks. It's slow. So I'm considering to move to WL6. My questions:
1. How long it might take to test simple strategies on 500 stocks 5 min resolution on WL6 (it takes about 10 min on WL4 for me rigth now)
2. I don't know C# language, only Paskal. How hard/easy is to learn it? Anybody can share their experience?

1. Download the trial and see for yourself

2. With the trial, compare the code between the translated Strategies. Sure, you have to learn the syntax, and it takes a while to get used to new code, but the similarities are striking.

Also, note that Version 6 uses double precision data series, which will require about 2x the memory you used in Version 4. However, with 64-bit suppport you can address much more memory (64-bit OS with 4G or more RAM recommended).

Thank you for your quick reply Cone. I tried Fidelity trial last year so I don't think I can test it myself now. Could you just give me an idea how much faster things are working on intraday data in WL6? Twice as fast, 10times, of course this is approximate and depends on so many things, I understand that. Just trying to get an idea and see if it's worth moving to WL6.

To add to #1: as Wealth-Lab Developer 6 (from this site) isn't available in your region, download Wealth-Lab Pro 6 from Fidelity's site.

Out of curiousity, may I ask how are you using WL4 given that WLP4 has been decommissioned for many months?

I used to trade several years ago and tested my strategies in WL4. This year I decided to try it again. Now, after your question I tried to load WL4 and I can't do it. I guess my only option is to use WL6 now through Fidelity. Just when I thought things will be easy. Maybe I should stick to my day job :-)

Strategies run in compiled form, so it's about 1 order (10x) faster.
WLP6 requires a lot more memory for simulations and optimizations, but being 64-bit ready, with a 64-bit O.S. WLP6 can address a lot more memory on the system...

Upper RAM limits for the different editions of Windows 7:
* Starter/Home Basic: 8GB
* Home Premium: 16GB
* Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate: 192GB
