In our batch processing (using AutoIt) we sometimes encounter the error
WL6 is already running
Besides the fact that I never intend to open two instances of WL6 in our batch processing, I suppose that sometimes the AutoIt sending of keystrokes does not work as it should (timing problems etc.)
Inadvertedly I once stroke Ctrl-Shift-W while WL6 was running and this surprisingly opened a second instance of WL6.
Questions:
(1) when exactly is the error "WL6 is already running" triggered
(2) Is Ctrl-Shift-W an intended feature?.

(3) Is it possible to launch WL6 while giving the desired workspace as a parameter in a cmd file?

1 - When WealthLabDev.exe is already running i.e. has been launched.
2 - It's neither a surprise nor an instance. It's main workspace window, a documented feature (see Wealth-Lab User Guide > Reference > Keyboard >
Shortcuts.
3 - Since it's not documented, it's probably not possible.

4) "Instances" / Ctrl Shift W:
When opening a new WL window with Ctrl Shift W, an new WL starts to run in the Windows Task Manager application list?
This is in contrast to double-clicking on the WL program icon - then the error "WL already running" pops up.
5) Keystrokes
a) Is there a list somewhere that documents all Keystroke Combinations in WL 6 so we could check further?
b) Is there a keystroke combination that would launch a new instance of WL6 (instead of new workspace) ?
6) Parameters when starting up
This would help us solving one of our most severe problem right now, which is automatically loading the default workspace right at the start without any further keystroke combinations etc - something tends to hang there.

At the risk of repeating:
4 - Already replied, see #2 in my post #3 above. It's not an instance.
5 - Already replied, see #2 in my post #3 above.
6 - Already replied, see #3 in my post #3 above. If it's not documented, it does not exist.

@Eugene
As a follow up to this, if I want to run parameter optimization on multiple stocks, and I run the each optimization workload by opening a few workspaces, will it offload each optimization workload on different CPUs ? from your answer "it is not a new instance" I believe workload will not get distributed on multiple CPUs....so only option is create virtual machine? any suggestions?

If you want to perform fast optimizations, then you should take a look at our
BTUtils for Wealth-Lab tool.
Depending on the strategy, dataset and the hardware of your computer, simulations and optimizations can run hundreds of times faster.
